CYTER

CYTER

Yoga has assumed significance worldwide and the Government of India is currently promoting indigenous systems of health including Yoga in a strong manner through the Ministry of AYUSH.

Yoga has been a part of SBV since its inception and since 2010 the Centre for Yoga Therapy, Education and Research (CYTER) of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) has been promoting health in a holistic manner with a scientific research based approach through the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute & SSSMCRI. All students of the constituent colleges of SBV are exposed to the Yoga training and numerous courses are offered in the field of Yoga Therapy from certificate to PhD level.

The innovative focus of CYTER is on “Salutogenesis”, the concept of health promotion and disease prevention and management, that enables us to work towards holistic health and wellbeing for all.  This integrative approach bridges traditional and modern approaches to healthcare in the form of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (TCI) enables us to serve the patient population in a more efficient, cost effective and patient friendly manner. This is in line with the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014–2023  developed and launched in response to the World Health Assembly resolution on traditional medicine (WHA62.13). This strategy aims to support Member States in developing proactive policies and implementing action plans that will strengthen the role traditional medicine plays in keeping populations healthy.

With international interest in its activities, CYTER strives to serve as a nodal center to train medical educators and administrators for setting up such integrative health centers as it has necessary infrastructure and human resources. This is only possible due to the supportive and innovative milieu of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth where the holistic art and science of Yoga, our cultural heritage, has been able to reach both the classes and the masses of our society optimally, effectively and holistically.

" THE OFFLINE CLASSES FOR THE FIRST YEAR UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS OF NURSING, PHYSIOTHERAPY, PHARMACY, ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES JOINING IN 2021 WILL COMMENCE FROM 18th NOVEMBER 2021."

THE INNOVATIVE ASPECTS OF CYTER

Modern medical advancements provide the rationale for the integration of various traditional healing techniques including Yoga in the promotion of health, healing and longevity. Thanks to the foresight of the Chairman and the benevolent management of SBV, CYTER is functioning actively from the university campus and serving a wide range of stakeholders.

At CYTER we have an integrated set up where we are educating future Yoga therapists, simultaneously helping patients recover from illnesses and at the same time developing an understanding through extensive basic and applied scientific research. Whereas Yoga is usually found in departments of Physical Education & Sports in many universities, we at CYTER have it in a medical institution thus enhancing the learning curve of our trainees as also enabling us to offer holistic therapeutic benefits for all patients in our hospital.

“There are many centers where you can get a Yoga degree, attend a Yoga Therapy session or find Yoga research being undertaken. However, to have all three happening in one place is surely innovative. This center is indeed a role-model that combines the best of the East with that of the West.”
